"The ethos behind Wrapped By Alice is to produce beautiful, eco-friendly gift wrapping, which my customers can use with both joy and a clear conscience.

I seek out the best quality eco-friendly papers. In fact, all the papers I use are made from a minimum of 80% recycled materials. Not to mention, all of my gift wrapping is itself 100% recyclable. And the same goes for my packaging! I also use minimal amounts of ink in my products, with the majority of inks I do use being water-based. In keeping with this spirit, my designs are largely inspired by my love of animals and nature. My main goal is that my customers can enjoy the happiness of gift wrapping, without having to worry about harming the environment.

Each design begins life as an original ink drawing, from which I create a simple stamp – otherwise known as a block cut. These stamps are then used in the hand printing of my products. All of these handmade items are printed from my home studio in Sheffield.  For some of my most popular wrapping paper designs, I have to use a slightly different printing process. In order to keep up with demand, these designs are printed by an independent, Sheffield-based firm, who use their traditional lithographic printing press to create faithful copies of my original artwork.

 

I hope that the reliable eco-friendly credentials of my wrapping papers – from their local production, to their high-recycled-content, and their ability to be fully recycled – is what sets them apart from the mass-produced alternatives available on the high street.
